Jim Chilton: True American Hero PDF Print E-mail
One Arizona rancher shows us that global-minded do-gooders can be beat at their own game: take 'em to court and face them down. Don't retreat.  Don't stop the counterattack until you win and they lose.

On August 19, 2005, The Wall Street Journal headlined a story "Rancher Turns the Table" about counter-activist Arizona rancher, Jim Chilton.

Chilton's ranch came under legal attack from the Center for Biological Diversity (CBD) in Tucson, an activist green group trying to shut Chilton down for "despoiling the West's backcountry."

CBD receives a large portion of its funding from judgments it has won against lesser defendants who chose to not fight as hard as Jim Chilton. CBD also gets plenty of foundation money, mostly from far-left environmental trusts, including Turner Foundation (Ted Turner).

This time, CBD tangled with the wrong rancher!

Chilton countered CBD by filing a defamation suit in Arizona Superior Court last year. He demanded a jury trial, and succeeded in convincing that jury that CBD used photographs that were rigged to show damage to property that just wasn't true. The jury awarded Chilton $600,000 plus $350,000 in legal funds.

CBD's co-founder is now whining that Chilton is just a litigious wealthy banker and that payment of the award could financially devastate CBD.

Chilton's "throw-it-back-in-their-face" tactics ought to be taken up throughout America. Take them to court and cut off their finances! Use the same tactics against them that they have used against us.

Jim Chilton just proved -- IT WORKS.
